Tonya, our guide, was fun and energetic. She made my nephew's first visit so memorable. I appreciated how patient she'd was with all the guest especially the young ones. She told us quite a bit of wonderful information that also made the tour exceptional because my husband and I learned even more fascinating information about the park and animals on this trip. It's worth spending a little extra to take the guided tour. Enjoy everyone!

Loved it! Definitely do the Safari truck tour vs driving yourself. It’s just $10 more and you have to pay per person anyway. If the self driving option was priced per car then that would be worth it for the savings but it’s not. The Safari truck was great. The breeze while driving made it not too hot at all and it was a 100° day. Our guide was so knowledgeable and sweet. A lot of the staff are zoo or animal science majors or have just learned a lot from working here. We were able to ask tons of questions and it was a slower day since we came during the week so there was no limit on how many pellets we could have although we realized we were being overly scarce with them because we still had half our cups full by the time we got to the giraffes. I like that there’s no hand or cup feeding the antelope and deer. The animals have so much space to live like they’re in their natural habitat. A much better environment and experience than a zoo. I wish some of the really huge antelope came a bit closer and we didn’t see the emus but still, you’re seeing most of them so much closer than you would see at a zoo and much happier.

My family and I spent about half a day at Fossil Rim, and it was one of those experiences that leaves you smiling long after you've driven out of the gates. As soon as we arrived, the staff welcomed us, explained the rules, handed us a map, and gave us feed for the animals before sending us off on our own self-drive safari. Within minutes we were surrounded by wildebeest, followed by all kinds of deer, antelope, zebras, and other incredible animals. The best part is that many of them walk right up to your car. At one point, an oryx decided our vehicle wasn't moving until it received a snack. It stood right in front of us and even gave the door a little tap as if to say, "Excuse me... you seem to have forgotten my lunch." Then came the giraffes. Rolling down the window and hand-feeding a giraffe is one of those experiences that's hard to describe until you've done it yourself. They're surprisingly gentle, incredibly curious, and yes, their tongues are every bit as long as you've heard. Pro tip: bring a pack of hand wipes. You'll thank me later. Here's another tip that we wish we'd known sooner. We were carefully rationing our animal feed because we thought it had to last the entire drive. Halfway through the safari we discovered the rest stop, where you can grab drinks, souvenirs, stuffed animals, take a break, and buy more feed. So don't be afraid to be generous with the animals early on. You can always stock up again. The entire drive took us around 2 to 3 hours, depending on how often you stop. If you enjoy photography, bring your camera. I made the mistake of relying only on my phone and immediately regretted leaving my camera at home. I still managed to get some pictures on my phone, but this place deserves a proper camera, and that's exactly why I'll be coming back. Whether you're visiting with kids, family, friends, or even just as a couple, Fossil Rim is one of those rare places that reminds you how incredible wildlife can be when experienced up close. Huge credit to the staff for maintaining such a beautiful park and creating an experience that's fun, memorable, and educational all at the same time. We can't wait to visit again.

We checked this place out recently and had a fantastic time. We had our 4-year old daughter with us and decided to do the safari tour to learn more about the animals. Our tour guide Kenzie was amazing. She was funny and knowledgeable. We had so many opportunities to feed the animals from the covered tour bus. Feeding the giraffes was my daughter’s favorite part. The excitement on her face was priceless. The petting zoo, gift shop, and restaurant at the overlook were fun things to check out. Our daughter liked brushing the goats. It takes a couple hours to see everything on the tour. You can get through it faster driving your own car if the animals aren’t blocking the path, but plan for about 1 1/2 to 2 hours. Definitely worth checking out.

Absolutely incredible time. If you’re looking for the review to convince you to go… this is it. It is absolutely worth it. From start to finish. The amount of room the animals have to roam is mind blowing. The conservation efforts are displayed and you can tell that they truly care for all of the animals. Perfect for the whole family, I would really recommend going on the safari. Just such an incredible time.
