Garner State Park

Well, to be honest, I went with very high expectations of this park, I thought it had more easily accessible trails and much more beautiful than what I actually found. The park was full of people, difficult to find where to park my car. Then many people together and the river is not crystal clear, I could not enjoy the hiking trails, there are no beautiful trails like other parks that I have visited where the trails are very beautiful and made for the comfort of hikers. I think that in a few months this park will be better, I noticed that they are in construction, they are making a viewpoint and a sidewalk around the road. Maybe I’ll come back another time to enjoy the new changes.

It was beautiful! We went at the end of May this year and even in the heat we had a blast. The trees are beautiful and provide lots of shade for tent camping. The water had many entrances so you could be as secluded or in the action as you want. The pavilion and dancing are as fun as I remember as a child. The bathrooms were much better than expected for camping with clean facilities and hat water and good water pressure. Nothing was broken and the land was well maintained for campsites and beautifully natural everywhere else. There are giant ants but they do sell bug spray and all kinds of helpful things in their general store. My only ‘complaint’ is near the dam by the boat rental area there’s no walk way that’s easy for the elderly or kids, I went down the ramp by the dam which looked the safest and wiped out. Otherwise the water felt amazing and was crystal clear. This was an amazing first time camping experience for my kids and wonderful for experienced campers.

We went in late March to visit for my birthday and the park was beautiful! The self check-in process is easy at the self serve kiosk and we did some walking on the trails and alongside the Frio. The cypress trees were so impressive and Baldy was as gorgeous as ever. There were ample camping spaces available for both tents and RV's. The hummingbirds were out in full effect and it was a great visit. Your pups can even hike Baldy with you as this park is pet-friendly! You definitely dont want to miss one of the most Magical parks in TX, so add Garner State Park to your bucket list!

Such a gorgeous place to visit! So much fun hiking the mountains in the area and diving in the Frio River (although river levels were very low, we were unable to paddleboard). I've been to every state park in central Texas and this is by far the best!

Beautiful state park and such a great camping area. We ended up only doing a day trip but will definitely be back to camp here. Trails are beautiful and water was perfect for summer fun
