Great place for a walk or run. Parking lot to the dam/lake path is mostly rock and just under half a mile.

Nice walking trail and a relaxing place for the family in Waco. Its good to walk with pets as well. Limited parking space available on the lake shores. Suggested times visit - Early morning/Before sunset. No vehicle traffic is allowed over the dam and has enabled with accessibility parking options as well with wheelchair ramp. Have a nice visit while in Waco

Waco Dam is very peaceful place. The parking lot is only 5 minutes away. There was only 5 cars at the parking lot at the time we visited. It is good not to be completely alone walking out there in the nature. The water level is about 12 ft lower from normal level, said the local Airport Park ranger. We enjoyed the walk with our dog Barkley. We travel full time in our RV and we visit many places....Waco lake was one of our great places we visited.

US Army Corps of Engineers built the dam in the 1950s to stop flooding. The trail from the gazebo up to the dam offers a nice hike and great views of the lake.

This place holds back more than just water—it held back my tears of joy. I came, I saw, I was dam-azed. Whether you’re into hydroelectric power, awe-inspiring engineering, or just enjoy standing beside giant walls of water while rethinking your life choices, this dam delivers. Bring snacks—there’s no dam shop or dam bathrooms. But the dam walk? Beautiful and fully paved. I loved looking out over the dam water and spotting some dam fish. Don’t forget to stand in the middle and yell “Daaaaamn!” It’s weirdly therapeutic. While there try not to make too many dam jokes. (Just kidding—make ALL of them.) This dam place is perfect for dates, existential crises, or pretending you’re hosting a nature documentary. Would I go back? You bet your dam boots I would.
