Visited here and was really amazed!! The cavern are very impressive. We do the guided tour with CJ and I was super impressed with how informative and entertaining. I overhear another tour guide with a different group and can say that CJ was as much better. This is a great place to visit. You won’t be disappointed. There are a lot of activities for kids to do and a nice gift shop.

My wife and I wanted something different and fun to do this morning, so we got tickets to go to the Longhorn Cavern State Park. Our tour was scheduled for 10 AM, but wouldn’t you know it? We arrived 10 minutes late. Thankfully, they were very understanding and worked us into the 10:30am tour. Our tour guide was named CJ (although she claimed she went by Carlos as well…haha). She was quite knowledgeable about every aspect of the cave. Our tour took about 90 minutes, walking through various sections of the cave. She gave us a lot of history of the cave, pointed out different geological features to review, and even show us some popcorn, chicken sized bats. Too cute. I really enjoyed this tour. I’ve been through several caverns throughout the United States. Carlsbad, New Mexico. Meramec Caverns. Even the small cave at Silverdollar city. What I’ve liked about Longhorn cavern State Park was the attention to detail, and the trust the tour guide gave us to walk ahead and stop at each point before she caught up with us to turn the lights on, thus giving us a small break as we walked along, and also not to scare this poor little bats in the cave. Top notch. Would definitely recommend.

So much fun!!! My grandmother, husband and I decided to do this tour day of and was able to get tickets when we walked in. Staff was very friendly. Our tour guide Nikki was SO knowledgeable and engaging. I’m very sensitive to barometric pressure change and it did take me awhile to adjust and she was so accommodating for me. There’s plenty of time to take a few minutes and just rest if you need it in the cave. If you’re lucky you’ll see some very teeny bats along the way. The cave may be newer compared to the others in Texas but the history is rich and Nikki told it very well. Thank you for a great experience!

Longhorn Cavern is a beautiful, colorful, and well-maintained living cave! Our tour guide was excellent and very kind. The 90 minute walk is fairly easy with only 52 steps that are easy to negotiate and mostly flat terrain inside the cave. The formations are amazing and you do get to see a few small (sleeping) bats. The park itself is also a wonder page out of history which was built in the 1930s by Roosevelt's Civil Conservation Corps. You'll marvel at the stout construction of the structures in the park and the work that was done in preparing the cave for public viewing. You'll need to duck and watch your head in a few spots, but the walk was otherwise very easy. AND it's a great outing on a hot Texas summer day, because the temperature in the cave is a pleasant 65 degrees - perfect for a nice comfortably cool walk! Also take the extra time to enjoy the nature trails outside the cave! Highly recommended!

The husband and I decided to take a spontaneous trip to celebrate him officially joining the Big 4-0 Club. We left the Dallas area with absolutely no plan and headed toward the Hill Country like two adventurous bats out of a cave. While I fully embraced my role as passenger princess, I started Googling things to do and stumbled across Longhorn Cavern State Park. Since my husband is obsessed with caves, we figured we’d just go with the flow… or should I say, go below it. 😄 From the moment we stepped underground, this tour ROCKED. Our guide, Jessica, was absolutely stalactite-ing the show with her energy and enthusiasm. You could tell she genuinely loves what she does, and she made sure everyone in the group was having an un-boulder-lievably good time. To top it all off, she even helped one of the couples in our group pull off a surprise proposal in one of the most beautiful spots in the cavern. Talk about a deep commitment! 💍 If you’re anywhere near the Hill Country, 10/10 recommend checking out this hidden gem. And if you can, ask for Jessica as your guide — I promise you won’t take her for granite. 😉
