Luray Caverns

Wonderful spot! Beautiful scenes not just in the caverns but outside you can see the blue ridge mountains all over. They also have a really pretty lake with a beautiful tower in the background (see pics). The walk through was phenomenal. Worth the trip for sure. Lots of great places to stay. We got an Airbnb that was dog friendly nearby. I would definitely visit again even if only to show my loved ones the vast awesomeness of the caverns. These caverns are HUGE. Favorite spots - the underground lake, the fallen one, the hall of giants, the organ, and the wishing well. Note to management - Your employee, Scott, we met in the caverns during our walk. He is AMAZING. He had great jokes and pointed out some of the coolest rock formations. He really brought some good humor mid tour which is perfect and a good motivation to not only keep going in Joy but to also look for shapes in the stones. Changed the rest of our walk.

Great experience! Staff was super knowledgeable and kind. The grounds were incredibly clean and well maintained. Only recommended buying tickets in advance if you are going anytime past 10am. We got there with a 10 min wait at 9:45am, but the place got incredibly busy after 10:30.

Wonderful summertime activity! Very interesting! Feels great inside the cave. Small children might get a little chilly. For older crowd, there are a few rest benches. Wear sturdy shoes, but vast majority of areas have railings. The gift shops are really nice too! Staff is super friendly. Go early if you want to avoid heavy crowds.

Exploring the cave was a breathtaking experience. The stalactites and stalagmites have created so many different shapes that it was sometimes hard to believe what we were experiencing, resulting in one awestruck moment after another. One can simply dive into their imagination while trying to identify the hundreds of shapes the cave has to offer. The crystal-clear pools, creating picture-perfect reflections, were another highlight of the trip. Looking at the lush green carpet above ground, it is hard to believe what a treasure lies beneath. Overall, a trip to remember! The ticket purchase process was easy. There were plenty of parking spots. There is also a souvenir shop and toilets at the entry/exit. We bought a few collectibles from the shop as well.

Spectacular! Breathtaking! Beautiful! Well worth the trip! An awesome day trip! Would definitely recommend it! My only complaint was there could be a few benches along the trails inside the caverns. I do realize that there were times that the trail was too narrow that there was not room for a bench, but there were times that the trail had ample room & would have accommodated a bench. Overall, the experience was superb!!
