Pedernales Falls State Park

Definitely a must visit on your “Texas bucket list”. The park checks all the boxes you can ask for when you think of a Texas Hill Country State Park. The staff were all friendly and helpful. Park Police were observed so you had a nice sense of security. The falls area and river is just gorgeous. You feel like you’re in another place. The hikes aren’t you bad but could be a little psychically challenging. There’s other areas that aren’t so bad. Words and pictures just don’t do this park enough justice. It took me years to get here but I’m glad I did. Can’t wait to go back.

Had an amazing time at ! We did two overlook hikes and both had beautiful scenic views of the hills and river. Going down to the river was definitely the highlight — the water, rocks, and peaceful sounds made it such a relaxing experience. The trails were fun and manageable, and the park felt very clean and well maintained. Perfect spot for hiking, nature, and a little escape from the city. Definitely worth visiting!

Had a blast there last weekend! My partner and I went camping there and during our stay, we visited many of the trails, saw some amazing views and even got to walk on the falls due to there not being a lot of rain lately. Which ultimately led to a burn ban being placed a couple of days prior to our arrival, so we couldn’t make a fire. But that was okay because we still had a fantastic time looking at the stars from our camp site. There’s quite a few trails in the park of all different lengths. There’s a swimming area that you can cool off in, after your hike too, which was refreshing. The bathrooms were really clean and maintained. The park staff were really welcoming and helpful explaining some things throughout the park. Would definitely recommend checking this state park out. We will be back

Pedernales Falls was absolutely beautiful. So many trees, hills, and water throughout the entire park. The river isn’t completely full like I’m sure it can get after heavy rain, but there’s still plenty of flowing water and it’s such a peaceful sight to see. The trails were awesome, the water was warm, and you can still get in and enjoy it. Depending on where you stand, the water comes up to your calves or knees, and there were tiny minnows everywhere. Definitely one of the prettiest spots I’ve been to in Texas.

Absolutely gorgeous and expansive park that can be enjoyed with pup(s)! We brought our Frankie, and we hiked out about 6 miles from the Coyote Trail to the River Outlook. Mix of shade and sun. Different terrains on this particular route: red sand, limestone rocks of varying sizes, single trak dirt, crossing a small stream, up and down hill. I would say it is an easy-medium trek. Wildflowers were magical in early May!!!
