The Ranchito#5 waco

Ordered a shrimp cocktail, combo fajitas, and a michelada. The cocktail was very good. It wasn't overly sweet. I wish it had been colder, it was just cool. The fajitas had good seasoning, meat was tender. The drink was very smooth and very cold. The service was ok. It wasn't very busy and our waitress could have been a bit more attentive. The biggest problem is the bar area. You have to walk through the bar area to get to the restaurant portion. Not bad except the juke box was extremely loud. To be honest, I almost walked out. We were able to sit at the opposite end of the restaurant and that helped quite a bit. They eventually did turn down the music and that made a huge difference. I definitely will be back.

Good Food! Chips and Salsa were EXCELLENT! The Nachos were also good 4.5! The quesadillas were a 4.5 The margarita reminded me of Kool-aide with a hint of tequila 3.0 - However, I didn’t want to disappoint my craving too much. The service was a 2.5…because I had to ask for items 2x-3x. I would have rated 3.5 stars. However, the stars don’t allow for splitting.

This literally was the best Mexican food I have personally ever had. I was shocked and amazed. I had a meal that had fajita beef, chicken and shrimp with it and rice and beans. It was not a fajita plato though. I'll be the first to tell you that normally I'm disappointed in the beef due to the fat consistency usually. This place served the beef with zero fat and the flavor was amazing. The shrimp was incredible and chicken out of this world. It was 20$ me and my GF shared it and it was more than enough to take home and eat 2 more meals out of. Bravo chef and management. It was definitely worth a return trip SOON.

Finally tried Ranchito #5. I’ve been meaning to try this place for two years now. No frills, old-school Tex-Mex food, just like I like it. I’ll definitely come back for lunch. Has a nice bar too, depending on the crowd could be a lot of fun for dinner and drinks too.

The food here is outstanding! No…it’s not your cookie cutter Tex-Mex but rather Mexican food. It’s a simple cafe that serves outstanding food at really fair prices. Nothing fancy, but clean and delicious! If you’re looking for a dining “experience” there’s plenty other options out there with food that’s not nearly as good.
